How to Knit a Monster!

I saw this post on the Flannel Friday Pinterest boards @ Storytime with Ms.Emily Library with her process for making her balls of yarn. I tweaked the pattern by using my 4" circle diecut to make my balls of yarn.  They were slightly tedious but not difficult. I made a 'bowl' for them too.  I love this book also! This is really a fun theme with several books that would work.  Knitting and yarn is so much Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Mouse Eats all the Things!

This is one of my favorite  mouse, food, colors  books ever! The double page illustrations are wonderful and perfect for storytime. This mouse is adorable too!  I used an activity sheet that is available on Denise Fleming's website for my mouse pattern. You can't tell but he's about 7 inches tall to the tip of his tail. I made all my food pieces large too! I have a circle diecut for the blueberries and grapes and peas.  I just freehand cut out the other pieces and then used plenty of glitter glue to jazz them up! I end my flannelboard with a recap of all the colors by adding little 'crumbs' of each color onto the mouse. A ravenous mouse and colorful food is so much Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Baa Baa Black Sheep.

Here's a new nursery rhyme set for Baa Baa Black Sheep!  I made the bags of wool by using black acrylic paint on cotton balls. I added black fabric paint stitches to the sides of the bags.  I used my favorite sheep pattern for my sweet black sheep. This set would be great with a storytime theme of farm or sheep or yarn/wool!  I have a lot of these nursery rhyme sets  HERE.  We're having a lot of Fun with Friends at Storytime.

Mermaids!

Here's my set of mermaids and mermen for Storytime. I found some cute Google pics that I deconstructed and tweaked to make my set. I embellished them with ribbon, sequins and glitter glue! I already had most of the sea creatures and things that I needed for my rhyme.  I have a counting rhyme that goes with them also.  Mermaid / Merman Fun.  We're having so much underwater Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Birds of a Feather

Spring is in the air and I've seen robins and cardinals and blue jays and woodpeckers and so many small chickadees and sparrows in my backyard I've been inspired! I found these beautiful bird patterns at Downeast Thunder Farm's lovely blog! She has many gorgeous patterns that she makes into ornaments. I tweaked them a bit because I am not stitching mine. I used hot glue and some fabric paint and glitter glue to make mine for the flannel board.  I've posted about bird storytimes before.  I also made the set that is on Melissa's blog, Mel's Desk.  Be sure and check out the Bird board on Flannel Friday's Pinterest Here!  I'm sure you can find several bird rhymes to go with these but I made up a quick little rhyme:  Birds in My Backyard to go with the 10 birds that I've made.  There are so many lovely books to go with this theme! Birds in Spring are so much Fun with Friends at Storytime!!

Mary At the Cottage Door.

Here's a new nursery rhyme set!  I deconstructed  a Google image to make my Mary but I just free hand cut the cottage door and plate and cherries. I did add a little sparkle to the door and cherries and plate with glitter glue. This is a fun counting rhyme!

1 2 3 4  Mary at the cottage door;  5 6 7 8  eating cherries from her plate!

Yum! Nursery rhymes are so much Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Mouse Loves Cheese Shapes!

Here's a new game/rhyme for a Mouse that loves cheese shapes!  I had an old pattern sheet that I deconstructed for my mouse and the shapes were easy peasy. They're all about 3 1/2  to 4 inches tall.  I did make up a quick little repeating rhyme:  'Here's a little mouse looking for his lunch. He found a circle cheese to munch, munch, munch!'  Just change the name of the shape as you add another one to the flannelboard. Be sure to make munching noises as you have the mouse eat the shapes.  The kiddos always think that's hilarious! I can use this with a couple of fun mouse books...
