Sunny Days!

I saw this post by Amy @one little librarian and remembered the sunflower post I shared a few years ago. I mentioned that I had done a Sunshine storytime that was so much fun. I just had to make a set of those cute little suns and clouds to add to my plan. I used my Sizzix sun and circle diecuts and glued on google eyes and a crescent piece cut from a large sequin. I just freehand cut out the cloud shapes and added a little white glittery fabric paint. I'm kinda pleased with how these turned out. I'm so happy to have the great resources from Flannel Friday!
Amy has the rhyme for the 10 little suns that I made into a printable doc HERE and the lyrics for Raffi's song Mr. Sun.  Here's a youtube clip of Raffi singing, Mr. Sun.  We offered a Home Extension using my Sizzix sunshine diecut and some pipe cleaners to make 'sun'glasses! Ha! We enjoyed playing rhythm sticks with 'You Are My Sunshine'. We had so much Sunshiney Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Colorful Puppies Are Ready to Nosh!

Time to do a puppy storytime again and I wanted something new and interactive so...Here are my colorful puppies with dog dish and bones. I used Google images to get ideas for the puppies and finally settled on one body and changed the heads. I was planning on doing 10 puppies and gave out of steam at 7 which still lends itself to eventually a rhyme about a different color pup on the days of the week. I had a dog dish and bone diecut with my Sizzix machine so that was easy peasy.  Here's a printable link for the rhyme, Colorful Puppies

Five Little Jellyfish

For our beach/ocean creature theme we recently did, I made a set of 5 Little Jellyfish. You'd think I had plenty of ocean/beach/sea creature/fishy flannels but I needed another! HA! These are super easy. I folded my flannel to cut 2 identical pieces of each color to sandwich the ribbons between. I decided on these colors because I had sequins for their mouths. I used the cheap ribbon that you can get at Michael's for a $1 a roll. When they put it on sale I always just buy a lot! I used my rhyme, '5 Little Jellyfish'  and then we played 'Which One is Missing?'  We also offered the pieces for a jellyfish Home Extension. This was easy quick prep! Jellyfish are a lot of wiggly Fun With Friends at Storytime! There are more great ideas on the Flannel Friday Roundup. Check out the wonderful resources on the Flannel Friday Pinterest Boards. Shark!

So there were 5 little fish with bad attitudes and sassy manners that teased Mr. Shark...They barely hid in time to not be a shark snack! I really liked the version of 5 Little Fish Teasing Mr. Shark that I found @ Storytime ABC's with a happy ending. I made my coral and sea anemones and glued on some real shells and the smartypants little fishes hide there from Mr. Shark. Whew! Hope they learn a lesson!!  I used a Google image that I deconstructed for my shark pattern. My little fish are a Google image also. I just freehand cut out the coral and sea anemones. The kiddos really enjoyed this one!! Even sharks are a lot of Fun with Friends at Storytime!! There are more great ideas on the Flannel Friday Roundup.
