Babies in a Stroller going for a Ride!

Oh my! I just love my sweet babies riding in the giant stroller! These little cuties make me smile. I have a rhyme I made up to justify making this set and we will be using them this month at storytime.
I have several different posts about babies HERE,but this is the first time having them in a stroller with different weather conditions! They turned out better than I had hoped which is always a good thing.  I used a Google image that I deconstructed and tweaked a little for the babies and I loosely adapted a stroller image to make my own pattern (free hand cut out) stroller with diecut circle wheels. Babies are so much Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Halloween Babies

Last year I made a large set of babies and blankets to play a Peek-a-Boo game with our youngest storytimers.  It was a big hit! Here's the link Peek-a-Boo Baby!   So this year I made a new set and a new rhyme for Halloween. These make me smile!!

Trick or Treat Peek-a-boo Babies

By Kathryn Roach (10/2018)

Trick or Treat!
Look and See.
Someone is knocking.
Who can it be?

We had used Frankenbaby last year and he sort of was the inspiration for Halloween babies. We are using felt sheets with a large sequin 'doorknob' to hide the babies and then we'll say the rhyme and the magic happens! LOL!   Babies and Peek-a-boo are a lot of Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Peek-a-boo Baby!

I wanted to share an update for this post about emotions and babies, Poor Little Baby,  from a while back. I made a new set of babies that are LARGE! This time I added a surprise monster baby at the end and tweaked the rhyme to be a Peek-a-boo Baby rhyme/activity. Now, how much Fun with Friends at Storytime is that?!

Go to sleep baby!

I made this set of colored babies and beds for my church VBS preschool class but I intend to also use it for a Baby theme for storytime. I made up a little rhyme and will say it as I add the right color baby to the colored bed.  I do have 2 more baby posts HERE.

'Go to Sleep, Baby!'
Sleepy little baby, such a sleepyhead
Sweet dreams, go to sleep in your turquoise bed.
(Hand out the babies to the kiddos and as you repeat the rhyme change the color bed for the kiddos to match on the flannelboard) I made 10 colors but you can always make more ...white, tan, grey, orange...

Karen Katz has some of the cutest books for babies and about babies that I've seen! My grandson loved her book, Counting Kisses as a bedtime book when he was a toddler. The illustrations are great and these are just right for the younger kiddos! Five Sweet Babies!

When my children's librarian mentioned doing a baby theme, of course I was happy to help plan that!! Everyone loves babies!  I had a previous post about emotions that involved a set of babies that we're using with our baby theme. Then, I found an adorable clipart baby to use to make a set of 5 babies. I made up a counting rhyme, 'Sweet Babies' to use with the felt babies. I cut out the whole body (including the head minus the ears) I cut out a second head that I glued on with the features and a separate diaper. The bottles are from a baby shower confetti set that I had. There is a black slick fabric paint bellybutton too!  These little guys are so cute!

We are offering a Home Extension craft too. This is super easy to prep and prepare.  I used the 2 inch circle of the Sizzix circle diecut that I have to make the little pink baby faces. I made a blob shape that resembles a swaddled baby body. The children glue the baby face on the blanket and then glue the swaddled baby on the folded paper plate 'cradle'. Now the baby can rock while we sing, "Rock-a-bye baby".  Another cute baby song is Laurie Berkner's song, "Five Days Old".  Babies are so much Fun with Friends at Storytime!

Poor Little Baby!

We recently decided to do an 'Emotions' theme for storytime. We used several cute books.  Of course we sang, If You're Happy and You Know It! I made a couple of felt sets to go with this theme inspired by posts on Flannel Friday.  Miss Angela's post about expressions/emotions at Spectacular Story Time was the first set I made. And then I made a cute set of babies that I plan to use again later when we do a 'Babies' theme. I was inspired by the Babies post by Lisa at Libraryland!! I loved the peek-a-boo rhyme/activity she shared; 'Poor Little Baby'.  Here's my set of babies...I made each one have a different emotion, under a different colored blanky, until...hooray!...the last little baby is happy! Sighs of relief and cheers all around!
